Dressing for a Family Picture – We Found it at Walmart

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a family portrait taken. We are due for an updated picture, since Gracie is now a part of our family. As I was pondering when to do this family portrait, I found out our church is updating their picture directory. Score!

We finally had our picture taken a couple of weeks ago, though I haven’t seen the final results yet. However, coming up with coordinated clothing for all of us was a challenge. After all, we have a person in just about every size category you can think of. Sportsguy wears mens sizes. I wear ladies sizes. Stargirl shops the junior section. Bug shops in big boys, and Boo is still in toddler clothing.

Fortunately Walmart came through for us, and I was able to find us some clothes that fit our personalities, looked great on us individually, and coordinated for our family picture. Purple and black seem to be the “in” colors this year, so those are the colors we went with.

Boo was too shy to have her picture taken alone, so here we are together. Boo is wearing a George Baby two piece chiffon legging set, size 24 months ($9.88). She is also wearing a Faded Glory flower barrette in her hair ($2.50 for a set of 4).

I got brave and decided to wear Levi Strauss Signature mid-rise skinny jeans ($19.94, and I won’t mention the size). I paired them with a Faded Glory long sleeve scoop tee in black ($14.96 for a two pack). I added a purple woven scarf to add a splash of color to my outfit. ($5)

Sportsguy is a no-frills kind of guy, so I bought him a basic George long-sleeved polo in black. It was $12.88 when I bought it, but it’s on clearance for $9 right now. He looks pretty handsome in it, don’t ya think?

Since Bug takes after his dad and doesn’t like a lot of detail on his clothes, I bought him a George short sleeve polo shirt to match his dad ($5.97). He’s also wearing Wrangler Classic Boot Cut Jeans ($12.92) and Faded Glory canvas shoes ($12) that I bought for him back in July. Isn’t he a funny guy? I love the way his personality comes through in this picture!

Finally, I had to find something for Stargirl. I always cringe when shopping the junior section, as I never know if I’m going to find anything appropriate for a 14 year old girl. Fortunately in the last year or so, Walmart has gotten a lot better about carrying clothes I will allow my teenaged daughter to wear.

But I digress…I found Stargirl this adorable No Boundaries Ruffled Two in One Shirt ($12.88). The ruffled front is very flattering, and I love the purple mock cardigan that goes over it. Stargirl is also wearing LEI Ashley Bootcut Jeans ($18.88). I’ve been buying LEI jeans from Walmart for Stargirl for several years now, and I’m never disappointed.

So there you have it. Clothing for a family of all ages that coordinates for the perfect family photo. As perfect as it gets, anyway. When you have three children, no family photo is perfect. For example, one child might refuse to put down her blanket. And another might refuse to smile. And then the parents might have a bit of a glare on their glasses….but our clothes look great!
