Ah January. Every day I stalk the mailbox, looking for W-2s and 1099s. Depending on the year (whether I think I’m getting a refund or whether I think I have to pay) I either look forward to or dread doing my taxes.
Up until this year, I’ve always prepared our family’s taxes myself. But as my blogging business grows and our life situation gets more complicated (this year we get to take the adoption tax credit), I’m thinking it might make more sense to ask for a little help on our tax paperwork.

This year you (and I) can get help with taxes at Walmart. Tax professionals from H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, and Liberty Tax will be available in certain Walmart stores to help with tax preparation.
Services include:
- Help with downloading and understanding W-2 forms
- Identifying tax deductions you can take
- Filing your tax return
- Audit Assistance
- And much more
You can make an appointment, walk in for immediate help, or even drop off your paperwork for the tax professional to handle. I like that idea. I shop while someone else prepares my taxes!
Estimates for refunds and the filing of a basic 1040EZ form is free. Other services vary in price, but since this is Walmart, you know the prices are competitive.
When you get your refund, you can also cash your check right at Walmart for $3. Or load it onto a Walmart reloadable gift card or your other favorite reloadable card.
Tax services at Walmart are available now through April 15, 2013.
Will you be preparing your own taxes this year? Have you ever used the tax services at Walmart? How was it?

I am hopping over from HR to say hi and to follow your blog on my blogreader. I look forward to becoming a new reader of yours. See you around! ~Elyse/Oiralinde
Gotta love tax time! We are just waiting on a w-2 and we will be done! I do our own at home, it is fairly easy.
Thanks for stopping by, Elyse!
Ginger, I would love to get started early, but I always have paperwork that doesn’t come until the first week of February. And I heard this year that the IRS won’t even begin processing returns until January 30! That kind of ticks me off a little, but I guess it is what it is. With the adoption tax credit, I’ll be surprised if we see our refund before March or April.
