Will You Take the Million Minute Challenge?

A million minutes of playing non-electronic board games. That’s a lot. But when families across the United States band together to reach the goal, it’s achievable.

Board Game

Every year Patch Products, a leading manufacturer of games, sponsors the Million Minute Family Challenge to encourage people to unplug and spend time together playing board games.

Here’s how it works. Get a team together (my family is my team) and sign up for the challenge. Between September 1 and December 31 spend at least 20 minutes playing a non-electronic board game with others from your team. Then sign in to the Million Minute Family Challenge website to log your minutes.

Last year 1,142,432 total minutes were logged by families across the United States! I’d love to see that total surpassed this year. I’d also love to see Oregon surpass Texas in the most minutes logged per state. That’s the competitor in me talking! :)

I know it sounds like I’m doing a sales pitch for the challenge, but I’m not being compensated to promote this at all. I heard about the challenge yesterday and immediately signed my family up. I think encouraging families to shut off the electronics and spend time enjoying each other is a great idea! My kids love playing games with Sportsguy and me, and it’s not something we do often enough.

Twenty minutes over the course of 4 months isn’t much of a commitment. So what do you say? Are you in? Will you take the Million Minute Family Challenge with me?
