You’ve heard of the 5 Love Languages by now, or at least I hope you have. I first heard about the 5 love languages when my oldest child was a baby, and I was taking a marriage class at church.
There’s no doubt that knowing your spouse and children’s love languages can help you connect with them on a deeper level. But how do we teach children to appreciate different love languages?
Well, now there’s an easy way! Rick Osborne and Gary Chapman have written a new book for kids that teaches them about the 5 love languages in a fun and easy to understand way.

A Perfect Pet for Peyton
A Perfect Pet for Peyton is the story of Peyton and Penny. They are twins who celebrate their birthday by having a party at Mr. Chapman’s Perfect Pet Pal Emporium. Peyton, Penny, and their friends not only have the opportunity to play with the animals at the pet emporium, but they will each be able to take home a perfect pet pal of their very own.
The perfect pet pals are chosen based on the children’s love languages. Those love languages are:
- Gifts
- Words of Affirmation
- Quality Time
- Physical Touch
- Acts of Service
As the children learn about their different pet pals, they also learn to see and understand their own love language.
A Perfect Pet for Peyton explains love languages in kid-friendly, easy to understand language. Children will learn what each love language looks like in real life.
At the end of the book is a little quiz children can take, which will give them clues as to what their own love languages are.
Sprinkled throughout the book are fun exercises and games, such as finding an insect on every full page illustration and finding specific animals on a page.
The illustrations are colorful and sure to catch children’s attention. All in all, this is a very fun and informative read and a perfect way to introduce children to the 5 love languages!
