Summary:

Packed with colorful characters and positive lessons, The Little House That Stood lives up to the excellent standard of other Veggie Tales DVDs. Preschool kids will love it, and parents will appreciate it.

My family has been watching Veggie Tales for 15 years. Veggie Tales were relatively new on the scene when my oldest was a baby. Now 15 years later we have a two year old who is enjoying new episodes.

This week we received the newest Veggie Tales DVD to review – The Little House That Stood: A Lesson in Making Good Choices. When we picked it up from my UPS Box, Boo (the two year old) immediately opened the package and took possession of the DVD.

As soon as we arrived home, of course, we had to watch it. Again. And again. And again. Yes, Boo liked it that much.

So what’s the story about?

About Veggie Tales: The Little House That Stood

The Little House That Stood has a Mother Goose Theme. The first story is loosely based on both the Three Little Pigs and The Wise and Foolish Builders. Three Little Pigs come to Cabbagetown looking to build some houses. Our three resident builders, Larry, Mr. Lunt, and Bob, all offer their services to the pigs. While Larry and Mr. Lunt concern themselves with things like putting a hot tub on the property, Bob slowly but surely works on the foundation of his house.

When disaster strikes, whose house will stand?

The Little House That Stood also includes one of Larry’s famous silly songs and a second episode, illustrating principles from The Good Samaritan.

Our Thoughts on Veggie Tales: The Little House That Stood

As I mentioned above, Boo loved it! In the last couple of days, she has watched it at least five times. As usual, Veggie Tales appeals to kids because of the bright colors, catchy tunes, and creative storylines. And parents love Veggie Tales because of the humor and the positive lessons.

The Little House That Stood doesn’t disappoint. The twist on the Mother Goose stories is brilliant. And the lessons are good ones, too. This DVD gets kids thinking about their foundation – what is life based on? It also teaches them to make good, not selfish, decisions.

I’m glad we have this DVD to add to our Veggie Tales collection.
