One of the first things my doctor told me when I was diagnosed with diabetes is that I had to take good care of my teeth. It’s not that I don’t take good care of my teeth, but apparently diabetics are more susceptible to infections of the mouth and teeth, and such infections can really mess with a person’s blood sugar.
At the time I was using a regular, run of the mill manual toothbrush. I considered buying an inexpensive battery operated toothbrush, but I haven’t been too impressed when I’ve used them in the past. They tend to be a little harsh on my mouth, and I hate it when the batteries die, and I don’t have the proper batteries on hand to replace them.

I was still weighing my options when I was given the opportunity to review the Oral B Deep Sweep electric toothbrush. Of course I said yes!
The Oral B Deep Sweep electric toothbrush has the following features:
- Dynamic side to side bristles sweep away plaque
- A moving power tip penetrates hard to reach areas
- Stationary bristles polish tooth surfaces
But would it be gentle enough on my mouth to work for me?

I’ve been using the Oral B Deep Sweep electric toothbrush for about a week, and I can honestly say I’m very happy with it! It’s more gentle on my mouth than the battery operated toothbrushes I’ve tried. And it really does clean hard to reach areas. I have somewhat crooked teeth, and there are a couple of areas of my mouth that are notoriously hard to brush. The Oral B Deep Sweep gets into these areas!
I also love that the Oral B Deep Sweep comes with a little recharging stand that plugs into a regular outlet. No more searching for batteries for a toothbrush that died!
I am so glad I received this product for review! It’s not something I probably would have picked up for myself, but it’s a toothbrush worth purchasing!
And apparently I’m not the only one who likes the Oral B Deep Sweep. Dr. Levine, celebrity dentist for Dr. Oz also endorses the Oral B Deep Sweep. In fact, he will be hosting a an Oral Health Twitter Chat on February 13, 2013 at 10 am PST. (sponsored by Walmart and P&G). You are welcome to join the chat on Twitter (hashtag #healthysmile) and get all of your oral health questions answered! The chat will also include more information about the Oral B Deep Sweep. Stay tuned for more details.
The Oral B Deep Sweep will be available at Walmart beginning January 24, 2013. And if you’re a frugal gal like me, you can get a $15 mail in rebate on Walmart.com! That will also be available January 24.
